ESTABLISHMENT:

The Aminu Dabo College of Health Sciences and Technology was established in 2015 to train Community Health Workers to meet the challenge of making Health Services close to the door step of the needy.

LOCATION:

Number 9, Civic Centre Road, Kano

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

Our College is open to all candidates with the required qualifications as contained in this Hand Book.

Application forms are obtainable from the Provost Office at No. 9c, Civic Centre Road and No. 8 Gashash Road, behind Daula Hotel, Kano or any other designated centre.

INDUCTION PROGRAMME:

The College will provide one week induction programme to prepare the students for the tasks ahead which shall include the Rules and Regulations governing the day to day running of the Institution.

ACCOMODATION:

Dabo College has Hostel facilities of 400 student’s capacity at Hotoro, Maiduguri Road, Kano. The Institute will provide transportation to and from the Hostel to the academic area daily.

SPORTING ACTIVITIES:

The College encourages extra-curricular activities like football, volley ball, badminton, tennis etc. Students are therefore advised to liaise with the sport officer and participate fully in sporting activities.

LEGAL ASSOCIATION/SECRET SOCIETY:

The school like the Nation at large frowns at the formation, patronage and the existence of secret societies or secret cult.

Students must note that it is illegal to operate a secret society in the school or belong to any banned society. Any contravention of a regulation will lead to expulsion.

THE LIBRARY:

The school has a block of library facility.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE:

  1. Continuous assessment in the form of weekly test and other assignments during the period of training will be used to determine the student’s progress, in this respect it will carry 20% of the overall progress exams such as preliminary/introductory, Sectional and Pre-final examination which carries 80% and this determines the student’s progress, demotion and or withdrawal.
  1. Any student that obtains above 40% but below 50% total aggregate will be given only one chance to reseat the subjects referred or failed.
  1. Any student that obtains 40% or below aggregate in examination including his continuous assessment (C.A.) will be asked to withdraw from the training.
  1. A student must obtain 80% attendance before he/she should be allowed to sit for any examination.
  1. Any student that fails his/her final qualifying examination has two more chances to Reseat the examination if he/she fails for the third time, he/she would be counted the course as eliminated; in this case he/she would have to repeat the course. All re-seaters’ must report back to the school at least six (6) months before the time of the examination.  Failure to do so will not be allowed to sit for the examination he/she registered for.
